LifeandLeadership.com Summary

Gordon MacDonald is a best-selling Christian author. This book is a series of devotional reflections written “for those who want to know how to use what they have been given for the purpose of building God’s kingdom. This book is intended to encourage and motivate people to live generously – or more generously.” (vi) Throughout the book he makes the point that “people who live generously share a firm conviction: a generous portion of what they have must be strategically given for the betterment of others and the advancement of the gospel.” (vii) The book is divided into six sections, each dealing with one aspect of the generous life: godly character, conscientious stewardship, unwavering trust, true humility, relinquishing idols, and abundant Christian living. Several daily devotionals are arranged under each section. Each devotional lists a scripture that is followed by a thoughtful essay.
